Upcoming Community Action Events in Berkshire

Berkshire has many non-profit community development organisations and action groups providing assistance to some of the most problematic situations and challenges in the community. This article gives an overview of some of the most important upcoming community development events.

No5 Young People’s 50th Anniversary Fundraising Gala

This event has been going strong for 50 years and has been active in the centre of the Reading community. The event supports over 25000 local young people and their families to take charge of their mental health through various counselling efforts, advice, training, and outreach services.

It is a black-tie event which is sponsored by Reading Scientific Services Ltd. The event includes a 3-course meal, live music, dancing, and a raffle and auction with prizes.

Monotropism / Theory of Autism Event

The host of this event will explain a theory and discuss its implications with AutAngel founder Caroline Hearst who believes there is no single explanation for autism. The event promises an informative and challenging discussion followed by Questions and Answers. There are more events on Autism hosted by AutAngel in the UK. AutAngel is a community interest company run by autistic adults.

Reclaim the Night / Campaign Event for Women

The Reading Reclaim the Night takes place on the 3rd of December. The event’s purpose is to stand together and declare that women in the town of Reading are strong in their fight to end male violence against women. The event starts in Queens Walk and goes through to a rally in Town Hall Square.

Sickle Cell Charity Ball

The Sickle Cell Charity Awareness Ball will be taking place on 21 May 2022 at the Hilton Reading Hotel. All profits will be going towards the Cianna’s Smile Charity and tickets are going for £95 per person to enter. The tickets include a glass of Champagne, a 3-course meal, tea or coffee, a glass of wine with dinner, live entertainment, and a disco.
